Following a visit to the College Ms Ruane said: "The Downpatrick Technical College is doing wonderful work in providing a first class education and vocational skills to people right across South Down. " I have met with staff and pupils to discuss the range of courses available and ensure more people can avail of them. "The college provides academic and vocational courses to post secondary, mature students and those not in educational employment or training. "There is a range of courses available, both full and part time, to cater from those beginning a vocational apprenticeship to those wanting to return to education and achieve an academic qualification. "I would urge students, especially those who are not in education or training, or are in long term unemployment to look at enrolling in the college as a pathway back to employment. "I will continue to liaise with the College to ensure it remains fully resourced to provide a full range of courses that will benefit all the people of South Down."
